Gerlitzen Alpe is located in the heart of Carinthia, the southernmost state of Austria. It is the exact geographical center, offering a vacation in the mountains while still being close to the vibrant Carinthian life. Even our neighboring countries, Slovenia and Italy, are easily accessible. In just fifteen minutes, you can reach the beautiful Ossiacher See by car in the valley.

Around Gerlitzen Alpe, you will find the diverse holiday offerings of Carinthia. The Affenberg (Monkey Mountain) and the Landskron Castle ruins on the western shore of Ossiacher See are excursions for the whole family. On the way back, a stop at the Finsterbach waterfalls in Sattendorf is a must. You can hike up to three waterfalls via an easy path. If adventure calls and you want to take a day trip, within a radius of just 150 kilometers, you can experience a lot: the Malta High Alpine Road, Hochosterwitz Castle, or the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

Carinthia is truly a "Water Kingdom." From mountain lakes to moorland lakes, there are a total of 65 lakes in the southernmost and sunniest federal state of Austria. Not only the pleasant temperatures in summer but also the excellent water quality make the most famous lakes like Wörthersee, Faaker See, Ossiacher See, or Millstättersee so popular. From Feuerberg, you can reach Ossiacher See, right at the foot of Gerlitzen, the quickest.

City strolls in Villach and Klagenfurt

On the western shore of Ossiacher See lies Villach. In this city on the river Drau, you will find numerous shopping opportunities, charming cafes, and many events. From Feuerberg, you can reach Villach in about 40 minutes. On the eastern shore of Wörthersee is the capital of Carinthia, Klagenfurt, which you can reach in just about an hour by car. On Thursdays and Saturdays from 06:30 to 13:00, farmers from all over Carinthia, Friuli, and Slovenia offer their products at the Benediktinermarkt. On Fridays, there is a organic market.
