General questions about your Feuerberg holiday

Departure time: How long can we stay in the room/chalet on the day of departure?

On the day of departure, we kindly ask you to vacate your room by 10:30 AM. Upon request and subject to availability, you can also use the bathing and wellness facilities until the afternoon on the day of your departure. Please inquire in advance about the situation on your departure day. For a 'late check-out' with extended use of your room, please contact the reception at +43 4248-2880.

Check-in time: When can we arrive?

We strive to make your room/chalet available for your Feuerberg holiday as early as possible on the day of arrival. Depending on the departure and arrival intensity, it will be available for you no later than 3:30 PM. An earlier arrival with the use of the bathing and wellness facilities before checking in, upon request and subject to availability, is gladly permitted. Please notify the reception in advance at +43 4248-2880.

Chalet Suites: How far away are the chalets from the hotel?

The chalets are approximately 1 to 4 minutes walk from the hotel and can be reached via a short outdoor path or an indoor connection.

Distances: How far is the nearest place / the nearest shopping option away?

The nearest place is Bodensdorf. You can reach Bodensdorf via the 12.5 km long Gerlitzen Alpenstraße. In Bodensdorf, you will find 2 supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bank, a post partner, beach baths, and more. The nearest larger shopping options can be found in Villach, Feldkirchen, or Klagenfurt.

Fitness room: What equipment is offered in the fitness room?

Our fitness lounge offers 3 modern treadmills, 2 steppers, 3 bikes, 4 strength machines, 2 benches, a dumbbell station, and a climbing wall.

Childcare: Can my child, who is 2 ¾ years old and has kindergarten experience, also attend childcare?

If your child has kindergarten experience and is already potty-trained, they will be gladly accommodated in the kids' club, even if they are slightly below the age limit. Vacation on the mountain is ideal for families with children aged 3 and above.

Traveling with a baby: Do you provide infant equipment?

The following equipment is provided free of charge upon request: crib, baby monitor, fall protection for bunk beds, stair safety in the chalet, kettle, bottle warmer, diaper pail, changing mat. Children aged 3 and above especially enjoy themselves in the mountains. We would also like to point out that many hiking trails are not easily accessible with a stroller.

Babyphones: Do the ones brought from home work in the facility?

We recommend using our in-house baby monitors (Wi-Fi), as there may be connectivity issues with baby monitors brought from home due to the thick hotel walls (in rooms) or the distance to the chalet.

Opening hours: Sauna & swimming pool?

Wellness area: You can find more information about the opening hours of our bathing and relaxation world here.

Traveling with a disability: Is the Mountain Resort Feuerberg equipped for accessibility for people with disabilities?

The hotel and chalets have evolved over generations and, as a result, do not have accessible architecture for people with disabilities. Hotel rooms, the restaurant, the kids' club, as well as some of the saunas and pools, are accessible on the ground floor or via an elevator. However, the wellness center is not wheelchair accessible. The surrounding mountain area around the resort and hiking trails are also very limited in terms of wheelchair accessibility. Additionally, all chalets are only accessible via steps.

Traveling with a dog: Are we allowed to bring a dog, and in which areas is our dog permitted?

If you choose a Chalet Suite Panorama, Almwiese, or Silberwald as your room category, your four-legged friend is welcome. Dogs are allowed access to the hotel's bar area and bar terrace. We kindly ask for your understanding that dogs do not have access to hotel rooms, the restaurant, children's area, and the bathing and wellness areas (both indoor and outdoor). Within the resort and in the hiking area, dogs must be kept on a leash.

How do I book travel cancellation insurance?

To save you from unnecessary costs in case of unforeseen circumstances, we recommend purchasing travel cancellation insurance. You can find more information, prices, and the option to purchase it here.

Is there internet available at Feuerberg?

Our guests receive complimentary access to our in-house Wi-Fi for the duration of their stay. However, please be aware that due to the location of the resort, there may be fluctuations in the network, and consistent reception may not be guaranteed everywhere.

Is there an à la carte restaurant for Gerlitzen day visitors?

Due to space constraints, it is not possible to open the hotel for à la carte service. The Mountain Resort Feuerberg provides a retreat for wellness-seeking guests, and almost the entire resort is a "bathrobe zone" during the day, intended to be a place of tranquility for our in-house guests. There are numerous other dining options on the Gerlitzen Alpe, or you can visit us as part of a day spa experience (by prior reservation only).

E-Mobility: Is there a charging station for electric cars?

There are three electric charging stations with Type 2 connectors for our guests (11 kW charging capacity). Please park your car directly at the charging station. Our reception team will then activate the charging together with you.

Please bring your charging cable with you!

Questions about a summer vacation at the Mountain Resort Feuerberg

Outdoor Swimming: Can you swim outdoors in June?

The Alpentherme, the Infinity Pool, and the Mountain Spring Pools are heated to 30-35 degrees Celsius, making them temperature-independent. In June, the Almsee can reach water temperatures of up to 22 degrees Celsius. Please note that swimming in the Almsee is highly weather-dependent due to the high altitude. The longest swimming periods are from June to the second half of August.

To the water worlds

Swimming Lake: How far is the nearest lake with public swimming access?

The nearest public lake is Lake Ossiach, which is located right at the foot of the Gerlitzen Alpe. You can reach it via the Gerlitzen Alpenstraße (12.5 km to Bodensdorf), with beach access in Bodensdorf. Alternatively, you can hike to the summit and descend with the summit and Kanzelbahn cable cars into the valley (duration including the hike: approximately 1 hour).

Mountain Bikes: Is there a bicycle rental service?

The E-bikes from the iBIKE-BOX at Feuerberg guarantee loads of fun. Fantastic routes are available for adults and children who are at least 145 cm tall.

Up to 2 hours: €19.00 including helmet (optional €10.00 bicycle insurance)
Over 2 hours: €29.00 including helmet (optional €10.00 bicycle insurance)

You can easily and conveniently reserve your E-bike for an active vacation at Feuerberg through our reception.

Mountain Biking: Can you go mountain biking on Gerlitzen?

As part of our weekly program, guided E-bike tours on and around the Gerlitzen Alpe take place several times a week (reservation required).

Temperature: What is the temperature difference between the mountain and the valley?

In general, temperatures on the Gerlitzen Alpe are approximately 5 to 10 degrees lower than in the valley. However, on sunny days, this temperature difference is hardly noticeable due to the strength of the sunlight in the mountains. It is therefore even more important to use sun protection.

Hiking Trails: Are the hiking trails accessible for toddlers or suitable for strollers?

The hiking trails on Gerlitzen are mostly gentle and suitable for toddlers. However, for longer hikes, we recommend bringing a child carrier, as it can also facilitate a possible return with the cable cars. We would also like to point out that many hiking trails are not easily accessible with a stroller.

Ticks: Do you need a tick protection vaccination for a summer vacation on Gerlitzen?

A tick protection vaccination is generally recommended when spending time in nature. However, it is not mandatory. Due to our location at an altitude of 1,769 meters, ticks are very rare in our area.

Questions about a winter vacation on Gerlitzen Alpe

Cross-country skiing: Is there a cross-country skiing trail?

There is an approximately 14 km long high-altitude cross-country skiing trail on Gerlitzen, which starts below the resort. Please note that this trail is only groomed and accessible when there is sufficient natural snow. Furthermore, the maintenance of the trail does not meet the standards of areas specialized in Nordic sports.

Ski course: On which day does the ski course start?

Ski courses generally start on Sunday/Monday or whenever there are enough participants for a course. This may vary depending on arrivals and could also be on other days of the week.

Ski course: Do we need to pre-register for ski rental or ski lessons?

Pre-registration for ski rental and ski lessons is not necessary. Ski courses are assembled on-site based on the skill levels of the participants.

Ski school: Is the ski school part of the hotel?

The Gerlitzen-Villach ski school has its main office at the middle station on the western side of Gerlitzen, and a fully equipped branch with independent group allocation and ski rental in our resort. The Mountain Resort Feuerberg collaborates closely with the ski school to provide all guests with an optimal offering.

Road: Do we need snow chains for the journey?

For driving on the Gerlitzen Alpenstraße, snow chains are recommended and may be necessary in the event of snowfall or immediately thereafter. There is an opportunity to mount snow chains in the parking lot of the gas station before starting on the mountain road. You can find information about the current road conditions here.

Temperature: What is the temperature difference between the mountain and the valley?

In general, there is an estimated temperature drop of one degree Celsius per 200 meters in elevation, which means approximately a 7-degree difference. However, during inversion weather conditions, it can indeed be colder in the valley than on the mountain due to foggy cold air pockets.

Transfer: Is there a shuttle service from the valley to the mountain?

There is the option to park your car in the valley and take a taxi up to the resort. The cost per trip depends on the taxi service and is approximately €76.

Hiking Trails: Is it possible to hike near the resort during winter?

There is a short hiking trail around the hotel and chalet village (approximately 30 minutes). An extended hiking path leads along the cross-country ski trail to the Pöllinger Hütte (approximately 1 hour) and continues to the Kammerhütte and the Steinerner Tisch (approximately 2.5 hours one way). This trail is a beautiful and well-marked high-altitude hiking path. You also have the option to hike off-trail through the snowy winter landscape with snowshoes, which are available for free at the hotel.
